New guy.....

Hey everybody, my name is Markus and I live in the Santa Clarita area.

I drove an '02 Cavalier LS sport back when I lived in MI and sold it to move here a few months ago.
Now that I'm here, it was a pain to find an LS sport for sale anywhere, so I bought a '00 Cavalier sedan with the 2200 and will be doing an Ecotec swap hopefully this summer. It will be boosted one way or another.

I'm kind of dumb when it comes to most engine stuff though, so I guess I'm in the right place for knowledge and such. I'm replacing the head gasket on the car's engine this weekend and I'm already extremely annoyed with it. Can't wait for the swap.

My mom actually bought a 94 cavalier sedan new back in 94 and then later bought my last car, the Cavalier LS Sport new in 2002. Ideally I'd like to get a Cobalt SS/TC next butmoney is tight.

Once I get this head gasket issue resolved, I can finally get new wheels and suspension for it and work on cleaning it up. Only then will I be comfortable enough to do the Ecotec swap.

Well I have yet t meet the ones that are here. Once I finish this stupid head gasket. I'm a victim of fraud apparently now. I'll post pics soon.

I've been dealign with a shop and every time I bring it in, it gets worse. Got to the head gasket and it's a fairly new fel-pro gasket, but someone went ahead and punched holes in it with a phillips head. The entire gasket was soaked. Besides that, most bolts and nuts were FINGER tightened and the wires going into the 02 sensor have been cut.

Needless to say, I know a few others who have been dealing with them and I even found the previous owner of my car on some strange stroke of luck. I'm going to burry this entire family alive.

*UPDATE*

Got to the head gasket. Fairly new fel-pro gasket was there with a couple of the water port holes punched in with a philips heads. Yeah not too bright. The entire gasket was wet.

Took all the necessary steps to replace the gasket. Head was fine, no warping or cracks. Everything is tight and torqued correctly. Put it all back together. New oil, oil filter, and coolant. Bled the coolant system.

Still overheating. !@#$.

So now I'm down to thermostat, radiator, and why the hell not? coolant reservoir cap. The fan seems to kick on at about 205*-210*. Is it possible that the wrong or a faulty thermostat is in place? Nothing kicks on at 195* like it's suppose to. Could the cap for the coolant just not be pressurizing properly? There's LOTS of reason to believe that this thing was in a big accident at one point in time. Could the radiator be messed up? Maybe theres a clog to the radiator core or something?

I'm open to suggestions, guys. A part of me would just rather burn this turd to the ground.
