I would try a new thermostat, cheap and easy.

Re: New guy.....
Replaced the thermostat which was in backwards. New coolant. No dice.
Driving it back home tonight, it was at about 230*. Twice, I would get a huge whiph of coolant the the thermometer would show a reading of 195* and even lower than that. I have no doubt in my mind that there's some clog or something along those lines in the coolant system. My guess is it's gotta be the radiator, especially seeing how it appears this thing has been in some sort of accident at one point.

Re: New guy.....
Confirmed. It is the radiator. Coolant is flowing through maybe 25% of it. Time to replace!

Re: New guy.....
I must keep a look out!
The car is still having issues. Flushed out the heater core and this thing obviously had nothing but water in it at one point. So much rust! It still overheats over time and we've come to the conclusion that the water pump has suffered from this. Hopefully once the new water pump is in, there won't be any more flow issues until I can find a good Ecotec for the swap!
